Pets for you

At some point in everyone’s life, they should have a dog. Dogs are great companions to have and they can help bring together a family. But, choosing from the wide variety of dog breeds can be very difficult if you don’t know what you are doing. Here are some of the main things you should consider when it comes to choosing a dog for your family.

Home

You need to consider your home. If you live in a 400 square foot apartment, a German shepherd probably isn’t the best idea. Remember, dogs need space to walk around, a backyard to enjoy, and enough space to be comfortable. Generally speaking, the more space you have, the bigger the dog you can get. If you live in an apartment, you should also ask your landlord if you are even allowed to have dogs. More often than not, dogs aren’t allowed in apartment buildings because of the damage and noise they can cause. It is better to be safe than sorry - just ask.

Time Commitment

You need to consider your time commitment. Some dogs are perfectly fine sleeping on the couch for 20 hours per day without moving. But, others require constant attention, daily walks, and a lot of care. If you don’t have a lot of time, getting a dog that doesn’t require much would probably be a good choice. But, if you are an active person who has lots of time and energy, something a little more energetic may be good for you.

Preferences

You need to take all of this into account as well when you are trying to find the best breed of dog for your family. Once you have considered all of the above factors, go find a dog breeds list and some pictures of dog breeds.
